Enigma Identifiers

Each profile has a unique identifier called an Enigma ID. That identifier can be used to identify whether you are looking at a business profile or a business location profile. The Enigma ID begins with ‘B’ for all businesses and begins with ‘E’ for all locations.

Enigma identifiers are unique, but not 100% persistent. The Enigma ID is unique in the sense that once an identifier is used for a profile, it will never be reused for another profile. The Enigma ID is not 100% persistent because the identifier for a business location may change across data set updates. Typically, 2-3% of business location Enigma IDs change each time the data set is updated.
